"Casting a Glance: Dancing with Smithson" launches at Marian Goodman Gallery Los Angeles on November 8, 2025, with an opening reception between 6 – 8 pm and on show until January 24, 2026. In 1968 Robert Smithson declared: “A great artist can make art by simply casting a glance.” This exhibition takes him at his word ing invites eighteen artists to join Smithson on the floor as partners who resist, improvise, and extend the rhythm of his thinking.
Nancy Holt's 1972 sculpture Locators with Loci is on view in the exhibition Minimal at the Bourse de Commerce, Paris on show through January 18, 2026. Curated by Jessica Morgan, Director of Dia Art Foundation, the exhibition traces the diversity of this Minimal Art since the 1960s through over a hundred works by some forty international artists, many from the Pinault Collection.
Joan Jonas: An Island Departure, with Nancy Holt and Robert Smithson is currently on show at the Farnsworth Art Museum in Rockland, Maine through to March 1, 2026. This special collaboration with the Farnsworth presents a newly commissioned body of work by artist Joan Jonas (b. 1936) that has stemmed from our artist commission The Island Project: Point of Departure.

Susan Philipsz is our speaker for the 2025 Holt/Smithson Foundation Annual Lecture. The fourth event in the series took place at the Kröller-Müller Museum, Otterlo in the Netherlands on Saturday October 11, 2025. In November, a recording will be posted on our website.
From September 5 though October 25, Echoes & Evolutions: Nancy Holt’s Sun Tunnels is on show at Sprüth Magers, New York. Sun Tunnels is a landmark in the Holt's oeuvre and encapsulates her investigation of perception, systems and site.

In July we shared Chapter Three of Wednesday Writings, one of Holt/Smithson Foundation's digital programs. This chapter’s focus is on writings by Robert Smithson, which provide an unparalleled vantage into the concepts, influences, and ways of thinking that guided his work. Smithson wrote extensively and published his writings in exhibition catalogs and publications such as Artforum, Harper's Bazaar, Studio International, Arts Magazine, and Avalanche.
