Untitled sketchbook

Spiral-bound sketchbook with graphite on paper
9 × 12 in. (22.9 × 30.5 cm)

Nancy Holt kept various sketchbooks in which she worked through her ideas. This spiral-bound sketchbook from 1972 shows rough drawings for various Locator works, including the 1972 sculptures Dual Locators and Crossed Locators. Artists’ sketchbooks often reveal connections between works—this sketchbook also includes sketches for the room-sized installation Holes of Light (1974) and the video work Going Around in Circles (1973), which developed from these sculptures.

I Draw

I Draw: to work out ideas; to present an overall concept; to give a feel of a work through a rendering; to make a master plan for blueprints; to map out a work in a site. . .
